How salary tax is calculated in Nepal
Employers withhold tax (TDS) on salary based on your annual income tax slab for the selected fiscal year. Taxable income is gross salary and benefits minus allowable deductions (retirement contributions up to the legal cap, life insurance up to Rs. 40,000, medical insurance up to Rs. 20,000). Progressive rates apply on net assessable income. SSF contributors may waive the 1% social security tax on the first slab. Unmarried female employees may receive a 10% rebate on gross tax.
